Around 30 Lanier Singles Club members gathered on at Sardis Park to honor veterans of all wars - all ages. It was a beautiful, emotional and solemn time, the lake in the background proofed to be the perfect setting in a sunny afternoon. Tears of love and tender memories were shed by some. We want to thank our own Richard McPherson and Mary Ann for their contribution to the program. Richard was our main speaker and Mary Ann played patriotic music with her trombone. A table had been was set up to display pictures, "momentos" from the war. Everyone enjoyed this special touch. Thanks to all who help decorate the park. Several American flags were displayed and flown all afternoon to remind us to give thanks for this wonderful country in which we live. the freedom we enjoy and the men and women that have made this possible. - Syl |
